How it started

Memory Makers began with a poem and a purpose.

Seven years ago in Crewe, a personal journey into poetry became something more meaningful — a way to help people reflect, connect and preserve the stories that matter. That creative path led to commissioned work with organisations including the BBC, the NHS and Avanti West Coast, but the true turning point came through a chance meeting with Dawn Clark, founder of The Thursday Club in Nantwich.

Invited to run a creative writing session called the Memory Capture Project, we quickly realised this wasn’t just about poetry. It was about legacy. Recording conversations and sharing them with families revealed the profound power of preserving someone’s voice — their words, experiences and truth.

At the same time, we were already capturing real stories through video. The crossover was clear: the same care, craft and storytelling could serve people, not just brands.

And that’s how Memory Makers was born — from creativity, compassion and conversation.

Today, we help people from all walks of life record their stories in their own words, from care homes and family legacy interviews to community storytelling projects. We believe every voice deserves to be heard.

🕰 The voices of yesterday. The gift for tomorrow.
